At the 242 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, there is a strong partnership between the Commanding Officer, their staff and the Corps Support Committee. While the Commanding Officer is responsible to develop and implement the training program which contains both mandatory and optional elements. Only the mandatory elements are funded by the Department of National Defence. The Corps Support Committee provides the Commanding Officer and his/her staff with the necessary volunteers, equipment and financial resources in order to conduct the optional element as well as to enhance various portions of the mandatory training.
Recruitment, Training and Retention are all areas that are directly impacted by this optional element and in turn by the volunteer effort put into the Support Committee. It is through a healthy working relationship between the Commanding Officer and the Support Committee that the required support can be provided, thus allowing the Cadets to participate in an energetic, challenging and rewarding program.
