Brigadier General Snow Bursary
The life and career of Brigadier T.E.D’O. Snow, OBE, CM, CD was a “watershed” in the history of The Royal Canadian Regiment. He was an inspirational and transformational Commanding Officer of the RCR during the Second World War, from 1941-1943. BGen Snow was as passionate about the Army Cadet movement in New Brunswick and prior to his passing in 1996 he established an annual bursary to be awarded to a deserving Army Cadet pursuing post-secondary education.
The Brigadier General Snow Bursary is valued at $500, and the successful applicant(s) receive the bursary in January of the following year of being accepted at a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Canada, provided that the applicant is attending the Institution in good standing. The Snow Bursary may only be awarded only once to any successful applicant.
Applications for the Snow Bursary will be distributed, each March, to Army Cadet Corps in New Brunswick through the New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Area Office of the Regional Cadet Support Unit(Atlantic) and must be returned to this office NLT 15 April.
The Snow Bursary Selection Board will convene the last week of April and consist of two (2) members of the Army Cadet League of Canada (New Brunswick) and the J3 Officer in Charge, NB/PEI Area or a representative of this office. The successful applicant(s)’ Commanding Officer will be advised and the Snow Bursary will be awarded, by a League representative, at the Corps’ Annual Cadet Review(ACR).
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #04 and LAdies Auxiliary Fredericton, New Brunswick
Branch #04 and Ladies Auxiliary provides a variable number of bursaries in the amount of $1000.00 CDN each.
The bursaries are awarded to various applicants and all are welcome to apply; however, special consideration is given to applicants who are children or grandchildren of service personnel, veterans and/or members of our Branch and Ladies Auxiliary in the Fredericton Area.
The Closing Date for both Bursary Applications is Friday, July 12, 2019.
